The concept for Delmarva Youth & Family Magazine originated in January of 2004 and the first issue was published in July of that same year. Maria Cook, an art teacher at J.M. Bennett High School and a mother of two, believed that the community needed a publication that would highlight the accomplishments of youth. Having little experience in publishing at the time, she set out to create a magazine that would be useful to families. Since that time, the magazine has grown into a Delmarva staple for families.
